Job Description
– Director, Supply Chain Management (45675) Job Description Director, Supply Chain Management Job Number : 45675 The Role: Reporting to the Branch Manager, Corporate Procurement and Supply Services, the Director, Supply Chain Management is responsible for managing and providing leadership across the section in the delivery of category management, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, parts management and mail services for the Corporation.

This Director leads strategic supply chain planning to optimize parts and materials purchases, inventories and related services in order to fully integrate a diverse supply chain for the City of Edmonton.

Working with senior management to foster trusted business relationships (both internally and externally) and identify new and innovative supply chain delivery models that further leverage technology, existing warehousing facilities and understand business partner operations to better achieve strategic outcomes.

First year goals and deliverables: Collaborate both internally within the Branch, corporately with all city departments, and externally with suppliers, industry associations and peer organizations to develop governance practices and business processes Provide leadership to support the continuous improvement of the supply chain management functions in alignment with leading practices while meeting the City’s evolving needs Deliver value for money to citizens and City Administration in the corporate management of warehousing, category management, inventory control and asset recovery Lead strategic supply chain planning to optimize parts and materials purchases, inventory and related services in order to fully integrate a diverse supply chain solution for the City of Edmonton Drive the development and delivery of Category Management supply solutions, through effective product strategies that ensure optimized and cost effective parts and materials purchases Represent the section in a multi-year City wide initiative to implement a single, modernized, core enterprise resource planning software solution Continue to build annual operating budgets for all areas within the section Continue to build healthy and positive work environments that enable the team to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacity Apply industry expertise and innovation to respond effectively to changing conditions Develop business cases for pursued technology, including financial analysis, risk mitigation, and oversee the implementation of new initiatives Qualifications : What does success look like?

Apply experience, knowledge, training, and/or education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering or a related field.

A Master’s Degree in a related field is considered an asset Completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI) and/or Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is considered an asset Leverage experience in a senior leadership role within a large, complex organization Strong understanding of information systems and technology applications in the supply chain field.

Knowledge and experience in SAP/Ariba/S4-HANA is considered an asset Utilize experience in a diversified warehousing and supply chain management role within a large, complex organization Apply expertise with strengths in applying a systems approach to leading diverse teams in a dynamic environment Think strategically to address large, complex issues, to manage emergent projects while steering dynamically Anticipate business opportunities and influence enterprise-wide policy, planning and initiatives Build positive, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships internal and external partners Demonstrate alignment with the Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, fostering an environment for others to do the same.
