Director of Safety And Security

Position Purpose

Vivent Health continues to grow at a rapid pace. Our operations usually are located in metropolitan areas requiring a focus on safety and security of our clients, patients, and employees. The Director of Safety and Security is responsible for the development, implementation, and operations of Vivent Health’s safety and security physical measures, policies, and practices to minimize potential impact of criminal risk and ensure an exemplary level of security, fire, and life safety protection in locations across the enterprise.

Essential Functions:

Reporting to Executive VP and CFO, the Director of Safety and Security will provide support to all clients, patients, and employees by establishing and providing related education and training for staff. Continued evaluation and monitoring of safety and security equipment, oversight of relevant vendors and tracking incidents. Introductions of new security measures to minimize further safety and security incidents. Primary purpose to ensure staff feel safe and secure in their work and environment for continued delivery of high-quality care and services for inhouse and outreach services.

  • Create and maintain policies related to alarm systems and camera needs. Negotiate contracts and manage support with current vendors.
  • Identify gaps in security for each location and implement necessary changes to ensure security of patients and Champions.
  • Set policies for our staff who perform outreach programs.
  • Set policies for our case management staff who conduct home visits.
  • Conduct yearly onsite life safety and security trainings to include fire drills – trainings should include bomb threats, paging protocols, active shooter, emergency evacuations and more. Assist with creation of virtual refresher training for any staff to access, any time. Should be part of required new-champion training if hired after onsite training and >1 day before next onsite training.
  • Conduct safety assessment of each of Vivent’s locations
  • Communicate with local first responders and include in the life safety policy
  • Review and conduct/coordinate trainings for de-escalation
  • Approve polices related to medical emergency and overdose incidents
  • Control and oversight of security guard roles and responsibilities. Negotiate contracts and manage support with current vendors
  • Control and oversight of our fob key system
  • Track and maintain yearly fire inspections
  • Work closely with our facilities department in maintaining safety and security
  • Participate in the safety and security review with new floor plan developments and renovations


  • Associates/Bachelor in criminal justice preferred
  • 4+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver License, insurable driving record and access to a reliable insured vehicle
  • Weeknights, Weekends and On-Call hours could be required on occasion
  • Knowledge of and experience in physical security work practices
  • Knowledge of and experience in health &safety workplace requirement
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of safety and building/physical security equipment
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through education and business experience
  • PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams) Project
  • In-depth verbal & written communication skills
  • In-depth collaboration & team skills
  • In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Spanish language (bilingual) is a plus
