The Scientist II is responsible for planning, executing, and discussing experiments that drive product development.

As a Scientist II, the employee has opportunities to learn Cepheid integrated platforms and technology with the goal of developing infectious disease tests to meet existing and emerging customer needs.

This position is part of Cepheid’s Infectious Disease R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA .

The Infectious Disease R&D Business Unit is comprised of research and development scientists driving New Production Introduction (NPI) that aligns with Cepheid’s strategic plan to fortify our leadership position in the Molecular Diagnostic market.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Design and develop unique PCR based bacterial/viral IVD products Implement verification and validation SOPs and write technical reports Plans experimental details required for execution of assigned work under minimal to moderate oversight, interacts with and assists other members as needed to meet research objectives Effectively manage experiments with shifting priorities and meet due dates Applies knowledge of basic science and employs solid laboratory skills to execute bench experiments The essential requirements of the job include: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 2 years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 1 years of related work experience Handling clinical samples and assist in microbiology work on BSL-1 and BSL-2 organisms Maintaining detailed experimental records and present data at technical meetings.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Familiarity with GeneXpert platform Experience in IVD assay related with bacterial/viral samples Familiar with statistical analysis methods and software such as Minitab Cepheid, a Danaher company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
