Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Engineer responsible for production support of single point diamond turning and optical fabrication processes.
Provide technical guidance and support to optical operators to facilitate performance.
Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and increase yields.
Investigate root cause of failures/defects and implement corrective action to support continuous improvement.
Candidate will be responsible for the leading the non recurring effort (NRE) to establish production manufacturing/test plans, define processes, and to lead the teams activities for managing all tooling, manufacturing aids, and capital requirements and transition the NRE into production environment.
Development and sustaining of manufacturing processes per customers’ alignment and resolution requirements.
This role is for 2nd Shift
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of optics manufacturing engineering is strongly desired.
Experience working in a production environment with represented and non-represented employees.
Candidates with optics fabrication or single point diamond turning specialization, with knowledge of optical freeform fabrication, slow tool and fast tool servo techniques and MagnetoRheological Finishing (MRF) processes are desired.
Additional desired skills include the use advanced optical metrology, including the use of Computer Generated Holograms (CGH) and/or stitching interferometry for aspheric surface metrology, white light interferometry for non-contact surface profiling, and high precision contact profilometry.
Demonstrated small team leadership skills are desired.
Knowledge of relevant military and ISO optical specifications is also strongly desired.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
