Job Description: The Automation Specialist will supervise and maintain the automated curation of hybridoma libraries.

Additionally, the candidate will design, develop, optimize, validate and integrate complex automation configurations for multiple high-throughput applications.

The ideal candidate must possess hands-on experience working across multiple liquid handling / robotic platforms, have sufficient knowledge of various automation software packages and LIMS systems, and be proficient in instrument configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and repair.

Responsibilities:
· Manage automated hybridoma curation workflow.

· Initiate and perform assay development / optimization and screening / characterize libraries of potential biologic therapeutics.

· Maintain automation systems and develop new protocols; oversee the proper operation and maintenance of current laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.

· Integrate and establish workflow with automation robots (liquid handers, plate readers, wash stations, etc.)
· Work closely with external vendors regarding new technologies and instrumentation.

· Streamline workflows and develop automated laboratory processes and instrumentation systems, including collecting and system requirements, developing concepts and method design, testing / validation, implementation and training.

· Collect and collate results and inferences and report to project team and senior colleagues.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5 years of applicable experience in Biology, Chemistry, or other life sciences.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, building, and integrating complex automation configurations for high-throughput applications for pharmaceutical / biotech industry.

· Expertise operating and programming liquid handling robotics platforms (e.g., Janus, BioMek, Hamilton, TECAN)
· Demonstrates basic concepts of engineering and troubleshooting robotic platforms.

· Broad knowledge and experience in assay development and optimization.

· Effective collaboration style; cooperation with fellow project members following priorities, checkpoints and timelines in support of objectives.

· Strong proficiency in data analysis; demonstrable ability to work independently reworking experiments / analyses based on interpretations and conclusions.

· Cell culture expertise
· Extensive experience with multi-dimensional data analysis tools; understanding of programming and troubleshooting enterprise software packages.

· General knowledge of Python and SQL programing languages is a plus.

· Strong organizational and communication skills
