– OTH Positions available: 1 Leader Name: Vice President, Private Banking and Wealth Planning As ATB Wealth’s next Associate Vice President, Private Banking you will guide and support the strategic and operational growth of ATB’s private banking business line in collaboration with other wealth management leaders and in partnership with other ATB groups.
Reporting to the Vice President, Private Banking and Wealth Planning, this position is responsible for deepening relationships with internal and external centres of influence, seeking and supporting new markets for Private Banking, deepening existing relationships with ATB Securities and ATB Investment Management, lead the adoption of policies and procedures, strategizing and leading client experience initiatives, strategizing and leading employee experience and lead the team to deliver exceptional client planning outcomes.
The AVP must be able to work independently, have a track record of exercising good business and leadership judgement, mentor team members on the ATB IDs, seek and strategize on opportunities to realize the objectives of our ten year strategy, and may also assume other responsibilites while in the role, including but not limited to supporting other business lines meeting their business objectives.
Please note this position may require travel to other ATB locations, as needed.
Associate Vice President, Private Banking Accountabilities: Business line leadership Strategically oversee and promote the Private Banking offer across ATB and external to ATB to drive understanding of the current offer, where it’s going and how it’s unique.
Responsible for the professional practice community on areas of the private banker role specific to private banking.
Oversee key Private Banking processes such as core business documentation, credit, private banking fee revenue, private banker professional standards and the private banker compensation model for our private banking operation.
Establish and maintain relevant policies and procedures while also understanding and adhering to financial regulations and legislation.
Facilitating private banking process improvements and providing performance and development coaching.
Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
Track financial status and performance and take appropriate action.
Seek out methods for optimizing risk to ATB while researching and analyzing reports and market trends.
Represent the private banking business line Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other ATB Wealth leaders that act as people leader for ATB’s private banking advisors.
Act as the connector for our wealth business to banking support and operational groups across ATB with an integrated view of the private banking service across the regions ATB operates in.
Serve as the point person for the wealth business on credit and pricing initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Being active in relevant communities to articulate ATB’s private banking capabilities and developing the enterprise private banking capability.
Contribute to growth and client experience Contribute to integrated strategic planning and initiatives for our wealth business while owning the execution of the private banking operating plan.
Consume relevant information and think strategically about the future of products, advisor support on wealth topics and wealth management as a whole.
Overseeing the marketing collateral, recurring 1:1 meetings with other ATB leaders to partner on initiatives, speaking engagements promoting private banking with ATB groups outside of our wealth business.
Participate in closing high value wealth businesses including attending specific prospect meetings.
Provide insightful information and recommendations to executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
Core Skills and Requirements: Relevant industry designations (CFP, TEP, CPA, etc.) and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting and/or Risk Management (in exceptional circumstances experience in wealth management would be considered in lieu of graduate studies).
Business Development experience is required.
Complex portfolio lending experience is required.
Minimum of ten years relevant leadership experience including leading leaders.
Minimum of ten years relevant experience in financial services.
Knowledge in privacy and risk compliance within the financial services industry.
Knowledge and application of Canadian privacy legislation or Alberta legislation and an in-depth understanding of business, legislative and privacy regulatory processes and requirements relevant to ATB’s operation.
Strong problem solving skills.
